  DR. LEONARD DID NOT FOLLOW THE AMERICAN HEARTWORM SOCIETY RECOMMENDED TREATMENT PROTOCOL when he treated my dog. Another vet's office has said Dr. Leonard was overly aggressive. Not sure why because he said Sasha was "not that bad off" SASHA WOULD STILL BE HERE IF THE AMERICAN HEARTWORM SOCIETY RECOMMENDED TREATMENT PROTOCOL HAD BEEN FOLLOWED. I have filed a complaint with the Mississippi Board of Veterinary Medicine against Leonard Animal Hospital. I trusted Dr. Leonard with my beloved Sasha. He treated her for heartworms. She became very ill and suffered rapid weight loss. The last 2 occasions that I brought Sasha to Dr. Leonard were because of severe illness. Sasha was NOT due for heartworm treatments. July 9 Leonard's emergency number did not work again and Facebook messages to him as well as Melanie Leonard went unanswered. I nursed Sasha with Pedialyte every hour until Monday July 10. Then brought Sasha to Leonard. He kept her to administer IV fluids until August 12. When I picked her up I asked "IS IT REALLY NECESSARY TO DO THE LAST HEARTWORM TREATMENT? I'M AFRAID IT IS GOING TO KILL HER." Dr. Leonard LAUGHED AT ME and said "I already gave it to her." All the good I did nursing Sasha with Pedialyte every hour for 17 hours on July 9 was completely undone by Dr. Leonard on July 12 when he gave her the last unscheduled Ivermectin injection. Sasha deteriorated more. I got a second opinion but it was too late. Sasha crossed the rainbow bridge. RIP MY SWEET GIRL.
